Lanzarote is the northernmost Canary Islands and is a fantastic spot for either a holiday home or a permanent residence. It boasts an eclectic landscape, from its tropical-feeling beaches to its dormant volcanoes. There are so many bright and thriving towns to explore too, many of which are right by the beach so that you can easily splash in the sea during the warm weather. Natural beauty is guaranteed on this stunning island, with a whole palette of colours in each location from the flora and the black and red earth. There’s plenty of remote and tranquil spots for those wanting some peace and quiet, where the rolling waves provides the perfect background noise. For those wanting the nightlife, there are many resort towns where there are numerous eateries and bars that welcome all. Despite its size, Lanzarote truly offers something for everyone.
In July 2022, holiday home-hunter Kirsty enlisted the aid of Craig Rowe to help her find her dream property in Playa Blanca with a £120,000 budget. He successfully secured with her a stunning one-bed apartment in Las Palmas, valued at £123,950. The property was only a 20-minute walk from the old town of Puerto del Carmen, where there’s a lovely harbour and real community charm. It’s a first floor flat and has been recently refurbished so feels very modern and well-maintained. There’s a balcony overlooking the sea, and downstairs a communal pool and terraces to enjoy the sun from.
Another option from Puerto del Carmen was a one-bed apartment worth £120,168. The complex is made up of 34 flats, all of which have a view over the beautiful pool that is open for all residents to use. Outside there’s also a terrace and garden, perfect for enjoying the sun. Bright and open inside, it offers plenty of room to settle in for a short stay, and it would be easy to feel right at home. Just a ten-minute walk from the beach at Puerto del Carmen was another one-bed apartment valued at £121,849. This flat has its own private balcony, which is the perfect spot for some people watching. Even from the kitchen, the sea view is visible. Valued at £130,252 was a two-bed duplex in Playa Blanca. There’s plenty of living space both inside and outside, and it’s also only a 10-minute walk from Playa Flaminga beach where there are plenty of eateries and shops to explore.
Also searching for a holiday home in Playa Blanca were mother and daughter Michelle and Charlotte. Ben Hillman helped them find a property with their £110,000 budget. They found a lovely sunny one-bedroomed apartment in Puerto del Carmen, valued at £138,392. With seaside and mountain views from the balcony upstairs, this was a spectacular property perfect for a holiday home. The living, kitchen and dining space was open plan inside, creating an airy space to relax in at the end of the day. The double bedroom was equally as roomy, and the bathroom was modern and well-fitted. This property also had a communal pool that its residents can use.
Ben Hillman also found a two-bedroomed apartment in Fariones, situated right by the beautiful beach. Valued at £129,464, this apartment had a roomy living space which opened into the dining and kitchen areas. The double bedroom had its own en-suite bathroom, and there was another homely bedroom as well as a separate shower room. A slightly less expensive option was the two-bedroomed apartment in Playa Blanca, at £119,642. With stunning mountain views visible from the balcony outside, it was in a lovely area for those wanting a beach nearby as well as a town to explore. Both bedrooms were doubles, and there was one large bathroom. There was an additional utility room offering more storage space too.
Rob and Lisa, with the help of Jonnie Irwin, searched for their own holiday home in Lanzarote, using their £280,000 budget. The first property was situated near the stunning Marina Rubicon, where there is a lovely harbour from which an evening meal can be enjoyed at one of the local restaurants. The property has two-bedrooms, the master bedroom having its own balcony where garden furniture could be placed to enjoy the sun. The interior is open plan, creating plenty of room for all its guests to settle in. This was valued at £272,650. Alternatively, there was a three-bedroomed villa in Costa Papagayo, valued at £264,957. This property has two storeys, and outside is a pool, patio, and front garden, so there’s plenty of places to soak in the sun. The living area was roomy yet cosy, and there was a separate utility room too. The first-floor balcony had stunning mountain views.
In Playa Flamingo, a more high-end area with a beautiful beach, was a three-bedroomed villa at £298,291. The property had a more modern style, and there was plenty of outdoor space at the front, back and sides including a pool and patio area. There were three comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms. It’s located in a gated community, meaning residents would feel extra secure. Back in Costa Papagayo was a spacious three-bedroomed property valued at £282,051. It had two sleek bathrooms, and an impressive living area. It also boasts a games room and stunning outdoor area.
