Who Hosts a Place in the Sun?
This super popular TV programme on Channel 4 has had a range of presenters over the years.
From Jasmine Harman to Ben Hilman, the hosts do a fantastic job of showing prospective buyers some great places in the sun. Sometimes the presenters go head to head in a Place in the Sun Home or Away as they compete to find the best properties and convince the buyers to stay in the UK or move abroad.
The away team often win as it’s hard to compete with the value of money you get in France and Spain compared to the UK. And of course there is no competition when it comes to which place has the best weather! The sun often helps to secure an “Away win”.
Friendly Competition Between Hosts
Some of my favourite episodes are when Jasmine Harman and Jonnie Irwin go head to head as they have a great camaraderie between them. Jasmine and Jonnie often joke about who is going to win each episode and try their best to persuade the house hunters to choose one of their property selections.
For 2022, a Place in the Sun has introduced a new presenter called Craig Rowe and his episodes are airing this year. It’s always great to keep the show fresh with new faces and a mix of the original hosts. Craig has a big passion for property so that should serve him well. He is also no stranger to presenting having presented on This Morning and QVC amongst other things.
His first appearance on a Place in the Sun shows him hosting from the pretty town of Denia, on the coast in Spain. He’s working with newlyweds Alison and Gabriel find their perfect home in the sun.
Hosts from Recent Series’
In the last few years many of the episodes have featured presenters Laura Hamilton and Danni Menzies. They both bring fresh charisma to the show and get on well with the house hunters, getting to the bottom of what they are looking for.
Danni Menzies
Danni Menzies was born in Kenmore in Scotland in 1988. She is a Scottish model and presenter but is now best known for hosting a Place in the Sun.
Laura Hamilton
Laura Hamilton was a TV host, property expert and entrepreneur and now is well known for her role in this programme, jetting off to gorgeous locations helping holiday hunters find their dream properties.
Ben Hilman
Ben is recognised for his patterned shirts and changing hair styles as much as he is for his house hunting expertise. As an interior designer, Ben is able to look past the work that needs doing on prospective homes and see their true potential. This can be a big help when the holiday hunters have a budget that doesn’t stretch to a home in walk in condition in their chosen area.
Jasmine Harman
Jean Johansson
Jean Johansson (formerly Jean Anderson) was born in Port Glasgow on November 15 1981.
She used to be a model and joined STV as a weather girl while she was studying for a postgraduate diploma in broadcast journalism. Jean hit the big time when she appeared on CBBC and The Disney Channel following a nationwide search for a presenter. She has spoken in the past about how she was subject to racism when working in Macdonalds as a teenager.
Jean is a great addition to “A Place in the Sun” and brings a different kind of vibe to the programme.
